Visionary new Junior School facility
Junior students at 榴莲社区 in Erina Heights started the school year in a visionary new Junior School facility for Kindergarten to Year 6.
Excited students and staff are thrilled with the spacious and flexible bright rooms, new playgrounds and beautiful landscaping.
鈥淭he new Junior School is the latest stage in a long term strategy to continually invest in teaching and learning infrastructure that provides optimum learning environments coupled with very high quality teachers,鈥 said Headmaster Bill Low.
鈥淭he new facility builds on an ambitious capital works program over the last 10 years and sharpens our focus on innovation and cutting-edge teaching and learning.鈥
A blank sheet allowed the optimum design for teachers to collaborate in teams, within flexible learning spaces that can quickly adapt to the learning needs of the moment. Integrated learning technology is instantly at hand. Student and staff wellbeing were key design principles, alongside energy conservation and environmental awareness.
Each year group has its own area and facilities, with teachers and students connected across light-filled learning and neighbourhood spaces. Three buildings, one for each stage (Kindergarten to Year 2, Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6) are linked around a central courtyard.
Additional works undertaken include a covered grandstand with amenities for Kindergarten to Year 12 use, overlooking ovals. The grandstand will double as an outdoor assembly area.
The new Junior School opens up opportunities for the region and there has already been a high level of interest, both from local families and those relocating from Sydney and beyond.
