Charlotte Brings Sun Safety Initiative to Life

At the end of last year, when newly appointed Head Prefect Charlotte shared her vision for 2026, one priority stood out: improving sun safety at school. She wanted to challenge the â€˜tan culture’ that normalises harmful UV exposure and make sun protection simpler and more accessible for students across all year levels. This term, that vision became reality with the installation of a sunscreen dispenser in the located centrally in the school playground.

Driven by her commitment to student wellbeing, Charlotte developed this idea to encourage positive, long-term health choices. Her focus on sun safety reflects the kind of student leader she is, recognising a genuine need in the community and working with others to create meaningful change.

Since the beginning of the school year, she has worked closely with staff to bring the project to life. The sunscreen dispenser is now positioned in a central location, making it easy for students of all ages to access throughout the day and helping embed sun safety into everyday school life.

The project aligns with the school’s broader wellbeing focus, supporting students to build healthy and sustainable habits. By recognising a need within her community and taking initiative to address it, Charlotte has demonstrated a strong sense of agency in her role.

Her leadership has created a practical and lasting improvement to everyday life at the school and reflects the way Grammar nurtures student voice and empowers young people to act with purpose.

Through her actions, Charlotte has shown to be a student leader who consistently demonstrates kindness and respect for others, alongside a genuine commitment to her community.
