2025 Staff Service Trip to Cambodia

In December 2025, a team of 12 teaching and operational staff from 榴莲社区 embarked on a 10鈥慸ay service trip to Cambodia, partnering with Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC). The goal was to make a lasting impact in rural communities outside Siem Reap.
The team worked together to build a house from the ground up for a family in need, providing a safe and secure home that will transform lives. In addition to construction, staff conducted two teacher training sessions at VBC Community Centre and Sunrise Cambodia, sharing professional expertise and practical strategies with local educators to support quality learning.
Months of preparation preceded the trip, including fundraising efforts that raised $10,000 to cover building materials for the new home and teaching resources for the learning centres. These efforts were supported by generous sponsors and the wider Central Coast and school community, including:
- Bells at Killcare Boutique Hotel
- Grammar Parents and Friends Association
- Good Guys Erina
- Mae Move Pilates
- Suq Restaurant
- Chop Butchery
- Individual donations via our fundraising webpage
- Everyone who bought sausage sandwiches and cupcakes at our staff run BBQs
Beyond the service work, the trip was a powerful experience in team building, strengthening relationships and deepening a shared sense of purpose. This initiative was an intentional investment in building the capacity, resilience and service mindset of our staff. These values flow directly into the classroom and enrich the learning experience for our students.
The Cambodia Service Program has been a cornerstone of global engagement at Grammar for many years, and this staff led initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to leadership, character and meaningful action.
It is a reflection of how our community lives our purpose to learn with integrity, lead with character and live with purpose.
